About
Paulo Carvalho was born in Brazil where he started piano studies at the age of 15.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in piano performance he moved to Vienna, Austria where he attended the Hochschule Fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst and received a bachelor’s degree in piano pedagogy in the class of Professor Carmen Graf-Adnet. He was then invited by the Austrian-Nippon Society to teach music in Japan, where he lived for one and a half years.
Instead of returning to Austria to continue his teaching at the Franz Schubert Conservatory, he traveled to the USA to pursue a Master's degree in piano solo performance at Arizona State University in the class of professor Caio Pagano. After graduating, he moved to Chicago where he is a full time piano teacher at the Near North Montessori School. He also teaches private piano lessons in his studio in West Rogers Park, Chicago as well as in a few student's homes in the Gold Cost and Lincoln Park. Paulo is also an accomplished landscape painter and portrait artist.
